Our team was recently tapped by the Google Cloud team to help them present the power of their new fully-managed Cloud Spanner service at the Google Next 2017 conference in San Francisco. This ambitious live demo took the form of a real-world visualization of global ticket sales, showing Spanner's lightening fast ability to handle incredibly large data sets - an 80 terabyte database loaded at an average of 800mb/second to be exact.
To pull this demo together, we worked directly with the Google Cloud engineering team, meshing our front-end capabilities with their back-end expertise, creating a web application powered by Firebase (also a Google product), JavaScript, and integrated with the Google Maps API. All of this, from kick-off to delivery, inside of 4 weeks!
