Our team was busy this week as a host and participant at the 2019 Touchpoint Interaction Design Conference at Simon Fraser University and its School of Interactive Arts & Technology (SIAT).
Touchpoint is an annual, two-day conference featuring talks by designers, informal face-to-face meetings, student showcases, and company interviews. The goal is to develop relationships between the SIAT design students and industry leaders while sharing professional insight and perspectives.
Our own Dan Nanasi (UX Strategist) spoke Thursday afternoon about the unintended consequences of design decisions made in the name of optimizing experiences. Dan graduated from the SIAT program and regularly gives back to budding designers through his knowledge sharing and mentorship.
Engine Digital’s relationship with the SIAT program stretches back a number of years and this will be the sixth year in a row we have had a team member present at Touchpoint. Previous speakers have included Scott Strathern (Senior Designer), Trixie Calaquian (Senior UX Strategist), David Look (Senior Content Strategist), and Ryan Opina (VP Strategy).
Thursday night, the agency hosted the Touchpoint After Party at its brand new studio space in Vancouver’s Mount Pleasant neighborhood. We had over 100 guests including students, alumni, speakers, and participating companies.
Below is a peek into our new headquarters — more on that, soon — and last night’s turnout:
