Engine Digital, the consultancy with studios in New York, Vancouver, and Toronto has deepened its East Coast presence with the addition of Norma MacDonald in the role of VP of Design. Norma will join the leadership team as well as lead and grow the agency’s design group, guide design operations, and contribute her expertise to driving exceptional work across the agency’s client portfolio.
Before joining Engine Digital, Norma spent more than 7 years at Fjord, part of Accenture Song. She was a founding member of Fjord’s Toronto studio and contributed to its growth to a headcount of 40 over her tenure. Most recently, she held a Group Visual Design Director title, overseeing design teams and client engagements globally. In this role, Norma played a lead role in digital transformation and design engagements for clients such as Canadian Tire, Tim Hortons, LCBO, and BMO. In addition to Fjord, Norma developed her career in design working for notable Toronto studios including Tribal Worldwide (DDB), SapientNitro, Teehan+Lax, and Henderson Bas.
Outside of work, Norma trains horses on her family farm north of Toronto. She is active in the equestrian community and competes in both Canada and the US. She was formerly a part of the University of Ulster’s Equestrian Team in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Norma also holds a BA, Honors in Fine Arts from the University of Waterloo and is a graduate of the New Media Design program at Sheridan College.

With the traditional consultancy market firmly in its sights, Engine Digital continues to expand in Toronto having made several recent hires including Brain Wong, Strategy Director, Business Design, and Steven Chabot, Managing Director.
The agency’s growth is being driven by engagements from product design to new venture business design with clients including Pernod Ricard, the NBA, Autodesk, NBC, a $100B global technology enterprise, and the venture fund from one of the world’s top athletes.
