Nestled in the heart of Oakville, Far Niente Winery is a benchmark Napa Valley estate with a history dating back to 1885. Named after the Italian phrase “dolce far niente,” meaning “the sweetness of doing nothing,” Far Niente embodies the art of savoring life’s simple pleasures.
Devoted to excellence, the winery crafts world-class wines from prime appellations, producing signature vintages year after year from the fields and walls of this iconic estate.
With no shortage of inspiration, we helped Far Niente reimagine the brand experience from a clean slate. Quickly gaining an understanding of both the product and the place, we set out to create an elevated online experience to complement this extraordinary estate.
Intending to increase ease of purchase – both direct to consumer and wine club – we focused on creating an immersive experience using visual and narrative content that encourages exploration, enticing visitors to wander through Far Niente’s rich brand story.
This new brand experience embodies quiet luxury – a sense of calm, relaxed and understated, presented through a design approach that expands the simplicity of space to let customers discover, learn, and become intrigued by the offering of this charming 19th-century estate.
At the heart of Far Niente’s e-commerce platform is a commitment to user experience, seamlessly integrating content and commerce to help wine lovers navigate the family of brands and discover their unique product offerings. By enhancing the site with intuitive shopping utilities, we capitalize on moments of impulsiveness, ensuring that every wine purchase is effortless. Thoughtful usability considerations streamline the buying process, making it simple and enjoyable for customers to find and select distinct wines that best suit their preferences.
Through a narrative approach to content, the rich stories and vibrant history of Far Niente come to life, highlighting its legacy as a premium Napa Valley wine producer. The storytelling showcases the legacy and craftsmanship behind each bottle while fostering a deeper connection between winemakers and wine connoisseurs.
Joining the Far Niente Wine Estates family as a wine club member grants exclusive access to premium wines, special events, shipping savings, members-only releases, and a host of additional benefits. Streamlining the sign-up process to be informative, user-friendly, and efficient significantly increases the ability to convert buyers into members.
Far Niente comprises six distinct wineries, each with its own unique winemaking philosophy, product selection, and on-site experiences. To highlight these differences, each winery features a dedicated webpage that outlines its approach to winemaking, along with clear pathways for purchasing wines and planning visits.
Built for speed and performance, and to support the growth of Far Niente’s expanding e-commerce business, this new e-commerce site runs on a composable tech stack built on Sanity and Next.js hosted on Vercel cloud. The site runs Algolia for search and filtering, and leverages WineDirect for core wine commerce features.
